A LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT

Randy White , Ph.D.

Dear Society of Consulting Psychology Members:

Welcome to the Spring 2007 Issue of the Consulting Psychologist! Happy Spring/Summer! I hope this newsletter finds you all doing well. School is out, classes are done, and your consulting clients are probably taking some weeks off, so maybe you'll find a quiet five minutes to read a book on the beach.

We had a very successful Midwinter Conference in Miami on various aspects of diversity, and it was a learning opportunity for everyone-plus good discussions, good company, good food. Thanks to Jeff Auerbach and Catherine Ruvolo for putting together the conference and to David Brewer and Sheila Kampa for the pre-conference workshops. Catherine has already been roped into other jobs-we need to rope Jeff into something soon.

I'm sure you've seen all the material on the Distance Learning Seminars. They're a really good deal. Natalie Monarch and Scott Serviss have a variety of first-class topics coming your way.

By now you will have voted for new officers. All the candidates were first-rate! How to vote was a tough decision, and I'm hopefully that whoever does not get elected this time will stand again for election because everyone on the slate was incredibly talented.
Randy White, Ph.D.

I hope you're getting ready for APA in San Francisco. David Brewer and Niloofar Ghods have put together a really great program in light of very tight programming constraints. Our hospitality suite will again be very active. I hope you'll plan to attend as many events as possible. And speaking of APA, Stewart Cooper, who takes on the active presidential role at the convention, and Skip Leonard and others have been diligently trying to rework Division 13's involvement at the annual APA convention to make the convention an important part of the Division 13 agenda. I hope you'll support Skip and his committee in coming up with any and all suggestions for making APA more meaningful for Division 13 members.

By now I'm sure you're aware that Dick Diedrich is turning over the reins of Consulting Psychology Journal to Rodney Lowman. The transition is already underway. Dick has done a masterful job, and Rodney has certainly hit the ground running, together with the next editor behind Rodney, Catherine Ruvolo. Please, please, please continue to submit any and all articles to our journal first.

There are many, many, many people who have helped me during my year as president, not the least of which is the person typing this newsletter copy, Katie White, and certainly, Deb Robinson and Stewart Cooper have been great to work with. I continue to tell people that this is the best division to be part of because of all the wonderful colleagues. Have a good summer and see you in San Francisco.

Sincerely,

Randy White, Ph.D.
